Come and sing with de Merc
We are always pleased to welcome potential new members. If you enjoy choral singing and would like to experience the rewards of singing in a small, friendly chamber choir, we’d love to hear from you.
Singing with de Merc offers a little more independence than singing in a large choir or choral society. With a small number of singers on each part, every voice contributes to the ensemble, giving members plenty of opportunity for musical expression and close collaboration.
Our members come from a variety of musical backgrounds, and many also sing with other choirs. You don’t need to be an expert musician, but some experience of choral singing, reasonable sight-reading ability and the confidence to sing your own part will help you get the most from singing with de Merc.

If you think de Merc might be for you, the best way to find out is simply to come along and sing with us.
Prospective members are welcome to join some of our regular rehearsals without making an immediate commitment. This gives you a chance to get to know the choir, our Musical Director Rachel Segman, and the music we sing.
After a trial period, permanent membership is agreed with the Musical Director.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings during school term time, from 7.30–9.30 pm.

Our current subscription is £80 per term (£240 per year), with concessions available for students.
