The de Merc Chamber Choir is always pleased to hear from singers, who are looking to engage with the challenging and exciting demands of performing in a small ensemble. Permanent membership is subject to audition.
The choir currently has specific vacancies for
one alto and one tenor
Singing in a chamber choir provides the opportunity to enjoy a greater degree of independence and musical expression than you would perhaps experience in a larger choir or choral society. It also allows you to build up partnerships with the one or two other singers in your section. There are frequent opportunities to sing one-to-a-part repertoire. Many of the choir’s members are also members of other choirs and so bring with them the experience of a broad range of choral music.
While intensive musical ability is not mandatory, potential members should have sound sight-reading skills and the desire/confidence to hold their own singing within a small group.
If you are interested in joining the choir, the best way to discover if chamber singing with us is what you like would be to participate in some of our weekly rehearsals before auditioning for a permanent place in the choir.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings (approximating to academic term lengths) between 20:00 - 22:00 at St Mary at Latton Church Hall, The Gowers, First Avenue, Harlow, CM20 2JP. Click here for location.
Choir fees are currently £40.00 a term (£120.00 a year) with student concessions offered.
If you wish to attend a rehearsal or find out more about becoming a member, please contact the Choir Secretary Jane Fox on 01297 428967 or firstname.lastname@example.org
