As well as promoting its own concerts, de Merc performs at many other events where music would enhance the occasion. Here are some examples:
Music Societies have a vested interest with us in exploring unusual music and we can can devise specific themed repertoire or programmes which they would find of interest or relate to their concert series. A fee would normally be charged for these occasions.
Churches often hold their own concert series and will either ask us to participate or to collaborate in a joint promotion on a one-off basis either for a social occasion or to raise money for a specific project. This has worked well in many village churches, which often do not have a choir in residence, but relish the opportunity of hosting a high-quality concert for their parish. We would normally share the net ticket sales on an agreed basis or perform for a set fee. We also enjoy singing Evensong as an act of worship in churches which do not have their own choir.
Weddings and Funerals We can supply a small choir or quartet to sing at your wedding or funeral ceremony and/or the breakfast or reception afterwards, subject to the availability of a balanced group of singers, or similarly an organist or other musicians. We also have an extensive repertoire of non-religious settings appropriate for Civil Ceremonies. We can discuss the fees for these occasions with you.
After-Dinner and Private Entertainments We are frequently asked to sing grace, and entertain between courses and after the meal. We can perform light, amusing, and easy-listening pieces for both mixed and men’s voices (mainly Barbershop - see the page on our site). Conferences are another possibility as are garden parties or beer festivals, indeed, anywhere where a little music would enhance the occasion. We would normally perform for a fee and hospitality.
